Very simple mod. Clientside. Plays a configurable sound when Minecraft loads and reaches the Main Menu.

It’s called “Ding” because that’s the sound that plays when you pick up an XP orb.

This modification makes 'shining' items (default: Torch, Glowstone, Glowdust, Lit Pumpkin, Redstone, Lava Bucket, powered Minecart) illuminate everything around them if,

  1. The player has them equipped. (In Hand/Armor).
  2. They are dropped on the ground.
  3. Another player has them equipped in Multiplayer.

On top of that, burning Entities shine light, and Creepers about to explode light up!

You may add any Item ID you wish as shiny item, via the settings file. Also supports armor items!

  • Rewritten from scratch to be a FML Coremod for Minecraft 1.4.2, requires Forge
  • Boosted efficiency A LOT, I'm positive it cannot be done any better now
  • Dynamic Lights is now modular! See readme!
  • Configuration files for Dynamic Light modules can now be found at /config/
  • Global toggle Button can now be configured via Controls Menu.

Toggle button InGame:

The key is "L". You can turn all dynamic Lights on/off with it. The button can be rebound using the ingame options.

There is no limit to the number of lights you can create, note however they are fairly FPS-costly. You can disable modules to obtain better FPS!

I recommend using Optifine for replacing Notch's funky render code with slightly less funky rendering code.

The mod works in Multiplayer, yet is clientside, it cannot lag servers. Note however 'dropped' light sources will not necessarily prevent Mobs from Spawning, and neither will your handheld light.

Note: DO NOT INSTALL THE COREMOD ON SERVERS! It will crash on load.

How the config syntax works:

[DynamicLights_thePlayer, DynamicLights_dropItems and DynamicLights_otherPlayers configs]

Possible Setups:

  • X := simple ID X, wildcards metadata
  • X-Y := simple ID X and metadata Y
  • X-Y-Z := simple ID X, metadata range Y to Z
  • A-B-C-D := ID range A to B, meta range C to D

There is a default value used as "setting", you can specify one by appending "=x" to the ID part.

Valid Entry examples:

50

Torch BlockID, 50, will use the default light value (15).

35-* (equals 35)

Wool BlockID, covers all wool metadata/colors.

35-2=12

Wool BlockID, 35, magenta subtype (meta 2), will use a light value of 12.

35-2-5

Wool BlockID, accepts metadata range [2..5].

314-317-*-*=15

Item ID range [314..317] covering golden armor, wildcarded meta/damage which means any value goes.

Also unnecessarily specifying the default light value of 15, you could leave =15 out aswell.

You can also substitute block/item IDs with their untranslated String values, useful for mod items.

tile.cloth is the same as 35, so tile.cloth-2-5=10 is valid.

item.helmetGold-item.leggingsGold-*-* is valid too.

Values that cannot be mapped to anything will be logged and ignored

This mod basically adds various evil things to Minecraft, from everything such as little flying monster that will follow you around and try to poison you, to bottles that allow you to store and control the weather.

A simple Minecraft mod that speeds up leaf decay after you cut down the wood in a tree. By default it will only take about five seconds before all leaves are gone.

Have you always been annoyed at how glass in Minecraft doesn't drop anything when broken? This small and simple mod changes that.

Breaking glass blocks or panes has a random chance of dropping glass shards. You can smelt them in a furnace to get your glass back. So you now have a lossy way of converting panes back into blocks.
You can configure the probability as you see fit. Panes drop accordingly less than blocks.

Stained glass and panes drop stained glass shards. Uncolored glass shards can be stained with dyes, and you can remove the color from glass shards by using gunpowder. These features are configurable too.

Also, you can use your shards to make a sword. It has iron level attack damage but it doesn't last very long.

Description

You have probably noticed it yourself but its never actually pitch black in minecraft. Even if you are in a cave with no torches you will still be able to see something independent of your gamma setting. This mod changes this, it removes the minimum block & sky light so if there is no light source its actually dark.

Usage

After you install this mod it will be in mode 0, there are 3 different modes and they can be changed in the config file:

   0. There is no minimum block & sky light

   1. There is no minimum block light

   2. There is no minimum block light & the sky light is dependent on the moon phase

There are also some other options in the config file:

  • "Dark Nether" : "Whether the minimum light of the nether should also be removed"
  • "Dark End" : "Whether the minimum light of the end should also be removed"
  • "Dark Twilight Forest" [1.7.10] : "Whether the time in the Twilight Forest should be fixed to midnight instead of dusk"
  • "RemoveBlue" : "Mode 1 & 2 can cause the skylight to be considerably more blue then normal, if this option is enabled Hardcore Darkness will attempt to remove that extra blue"
  • "Dimension Blacklist" : "A list of dimension ids separated by "," in which Hardcore Darkness will not take effect"
